Yesterday, I was designing new business card for myself. It has the American flag on the front, and it's for military film outreach. But I wanted those in the film industry to know something about those who serve. So on the back, I included this quote:
"What the Army sociologists , with their clipboards and their questions and their endless meta-analyses, slowly came to understand was that courage was love." -Author Sebastian Junger, WAR

I think Junger's quote is very profound.
Yup, the rest of the quote is good too, but it was a bit long. It goes on to say, how the uncertainty of war creates bonds between men who may be very different, but bonds nonetheless. Because of this bond, they are willing to sacrifice themselves and die. He writes that love and courage are inseparable, without love, there can be no courage. And I think love is defined in a way that runs deep, without question, with utter loyalty, and putting service about oneself.
What a quote.
after reading it and your comments I am positive that what he said is true ! it is what life is all about.
cheers, parsnip
